Not the time to invest in Colombia?

This forum has, over time, come to the conclusion expats should avoid direct, personal investments in Colombia. The following report indicates foreign corporate investment may go the same way.

Según los cálculos presentados por Bruce Mac Master, presidente de la ANDI, ante el Congreso, la reforma tributaria del gobierno de Gustavo Petro tendría un fuerte coletazo en el sector empresarial, a tal punto que haría de Colombia el país menos competitivo para invertir en la Organización para la Cooperación y el Desarrollo Económicos (OCDE).

“Colombia tiene una tasa impositiva altísima y la reforma (tributaria) lo único que hace es profundizar este hecho”, dijo el dirigente gremial. En particular, la reforma haría que el sector privado pague unos $16 billones adicionales, y, algunos subsectores tendrían un coletazo mayor que otros en materia de lo que pagan de impuestos frente a sus utilidades.

Al respecto, Mac Master presentó cómo quedarían las tasas efectivas de tributación de algunos sectores productivos que, en últimas, las pagarían las empresas en Colombia.

Adicionalmente, se alertó por la subida de impuestos a dividendos, que son pagados por aquellos giros de utilidades que entregan las empresas anualmente. Según cuentas de la OCDE, actualmente, si se suman las tarifas de sociedades y socios, Colombia está en un 41,5 % y es superada por Canadá, Irlanda, Corea, Australia, Dinamarca, Luxemburgo y México. No obstante, con la reforma tributaria, Colombia pasaría a ser el país con la mayor tasa combinada de toda la OCDE al llegar a 60,4 %. Colombia tendría la mayor tarifa combinada entre impuesto de renta a empresas y dividendos de todos los países OCDE.
