Mugged in Medellin

Does Colombia need to shake up its business activity? Well, Medellin is showing the example.

Today, this afternoon, Santa Fe Mall in Medellin had a bit of lively activity. Guy takes out some cash from an ATM and goes into a shop to buy something. However, he was seen at the ATM and followed to the shop where he was mugged (Don’t know at the moment if it was by gun, or knife). A scuffle occurs and the police arrive and there were some shots during which the “good guy” took a hit.

Nothing really new here, it, or something like it, happen nearly every day in Medellin, although Poblado and vicinities like Santa Fe have largely escaped until now. This means something to me as I live a few metres away from this attack and go there regularly. Don’t think it could happen to me as I do not follow the usual recommendation offered in this forum because I decided long ago to avoid using ATMs – I know too many people who have been similarly attacked at ATMs.
