Jordan - Jerico Road Trip

Took a 5 day road trip from Pereira to Jordan/Jerico.

Stopped by Salamina/San Felix: Highly recommended. San Felix has a Wax Palm forest (Bosque) that doesn't have the tourist that Salento has. It's difficult to get to...about 1 hour to drive 15km, but well worth it. Better to go with high clearance vehicle, and would be best with 4wd, but 2wd will work. Salamina itself is a very pretty town and worth a night's stay. There is a architectural and mural tour that was nice.

2nd stop was Pacora. Really a non descript town, but a nice hike up to their Cristo Rey statue.

3rd stop was Aguadas. Stop by the tourist office for a free tour of the museum (famous sombreros) and a coffee warehouse visit (see pic)

Note the roads to/from Pacora/Aquadas are really horrible. Can be done with 2wd, but slowly...even slow with 4wd and high clearance. Beautiful scenery along the way. Also note there can be landslides along the route so ask police or truck drivers to verify the routes are open.

Then up to Jerico and Jardin. Jerico is a nice smaller tourist town, good for a walk around. Beautiful churches, especially the smaller one. Nice walk through the botanical gardens up to the Cristo Rey statue and mirador over town.

Jardin...I could actually do without. Perhaps it's because we went on a 'puente' (holiday weekend). Went with family who didn't want to get reservations and we spent 2 hours walking around town trying to find something. If I knew it was a puente, I wouldn't have gone. Main plaza is full of bars blaring music all hours. Wasn't enjoyable at all and really not a pretty town either. Of course, we didn't have time to see the famous cave nor waterfalls nearby, but did take a hike up to the mirador.
