City Liveability Index for Latin America

Extracted from the EIU's (The Economist Intelligence Unit) city liveability index published March 2023, "Latin america is a place of extremes: in its geography (which ranges from idyllic beaches to rainforests to mountain peaks); its weather (the region is prone to natural disasters); and its politics (which swing from far-right to far-left). But when it comes to ease of living its cities are middling, according to the latest liveability index by eiu, our sister company. The ranking assesses 173 cities across the world in five categories: stability, health care, culture and environment, education and infrastructure. On average, Latin American cities score 67 out of 100, below Asia and Eastern Europe but above the Middle East and Africa."

For the purpose of clarity the geographical area the EIU includes are cities in Central and South America including Mexico. This information is behind a paywall so the following URL will not work unless you subscribe to The Economist.

Turns out, of the 19 cities included in the overall study for Latin America, Bogotá is the 6th least livable at 61.2, just missing the EIU's "5 least liveable" list for Latin America.
