A visit to the Houston Consulate today to inquire about my cedula. It can only be obtained IN Colombia. My wife was SURE I could get it here. She felt that because we were able to get our daughters first cedula at the Consulate. However, she was a citizen and my cedula is for a migrant. I was asking the Consul about the entry and exit requirements and he admitted that he did not know as he did not deal with policies within Colombia. However, he was very adamant that I should be very careful as he thought I was skirting some law. I.E. the M visa is only for someone that has intention to live in Colombia and that if I left it would be cancelled.

I believe that it will remain valid as long as I am in Colombia for at least a day within every six months. However, he mentioned that when I went to apply for the R visa at the end of the two years on my M visa that they would check my entries and exits to see how much time in country I had and that I could have issues...

I'll let y'all know in two years...lol. Meanwhile I will just get the cedula in a few months when I retire and go to Colombia.
