Movie Trivia And Colombia

It turns out that the Hollywood movie "Tears Of The Sun", starred in and produced by actor Bruce Willis depicting the rescue of an American aide worker from war torn Nigeria was actually based on an actual event in which an NGO (presumably Canadian) and some church workers were rescued by the super secret Joint Task Force Two unit of the Canadian military (akin to Seal Team Six). Supposedly they were unaware that they also had with them the son of a prominent Colombian politician and as such were chased by the FARC for a couple of days. They came under FARC fire twice during the operation and two Canadian commandos were wounded. The story was presented to Hollywood producers by a former member of the unit in 1996. The JTF2 commando was probably québécois Dennis Morissete who was the author of "Nous Étions Invincibles" or We Were Invincible in which he apparently describes the mission. Curiously Morisset was arrested on the very day of publication on sex charges and the publisher Larouche received a letter from the Department of National Defence warning the book's publication could threaten national security...which of course leads to a whole other story.
