Perfect weather in Costa Rica and the Central Valley

I see alot of questions, comments and assumptions, many not too accurate, looking for the "perfect weather" in Costa Rica and the Central Valley

99% of the climate in CR is based on altitude, just like everywhere in the world, the closer to sea level, the hotter, the higher up, cooler.

The Central Valley has "hotter" and "colder" areas, because it ranges from 300 meters (less then 1000 ft) above sea level, to over 2000 meters (approx 6500 ft elevation)

The Central Valley is always mentioned concerning weather, as is Atenas, because there are already alot of people there that are doing the writing on the web. Atenas became popular because it was along the traditional route from San Jose to the Pacific Coast, just like San Ramon grew because it was on the alternate route.

You might be amazed to know the area that is "the central valley", as it is much larger then most people think.
Here is a map (not my website) and actually parts of the Central Valley are only 15 minutes from the Pacific coast and beaches by car.

But now that the new highway from San Jose to the Coast (the Caldera highway) is the faster route, there are new areas becoming popular, with the same or better altitudes and weather, just less congested and less expensive.

My point being this..You can get those fantastic spring time temperatures, year round, in 100 areas of Costa Rica, and be nowhere near the Central Valley, or BE in the Central Valley, but far from the congestion and higher prices, as Costa Rica is essentially a long chain of mountains from north to south, with a long Pacific coast on one side, and a shorter Caribbean coast on the other.

So don't limit yourself by thinking the San Jose area is the best, it's not. It is just the most congested, more people, more shopping, more services, some things nice, some things less nice, but obviously, more expensive to buy, rent, live, but more convenient access to services.
