warning panama border problem

We just returned from the border in Paso Canoas ..We have traveled for 10 years with no problems and have many times needed to buy a bus ticket to return to Costa Rica . Yes this new law they are enforcing is insane.. you must present a ticket for your return to your home country or another country Now you must show them your money ..I was annoyed to say the least but I went and got the fake airline ticket you print out on our computer and returned with it. They then asked me for the $500 ..I held up my wallet and showed them the money This arrogant officer said you must take it out...I said this is dangerous with people everywhere and I did not understand this new law...I will admit I was not sweet but never even raised my voice…...He told me to come into the office and I entered thinking they would look at the money in private...He took my passport and checked it on the machine and started harassing me about being an American and If Panamanians go to the U.S. they must abide by the law. I told them I lived in Costa Rica and I am sorry he was treated badly by the U.S..
He told me because of my bad attitude I could not enter Panama. Then 2 guards proceeded to walk me to the Costa Rica border where I was instructed to not argue with anyone and They told this lie that I had given them trouble before and was not allowed to come to Panama . I know enough Spanish to get me in trouble and I told him I had not been to Panama in 6 months and where did they get this idea? The agent in Costa Rica told me that My date for 90 day return is up and I could not go to Panama and must go back to the United States on October 8th..So please be aware have your documents in order and do not talk back to anyone. I know now why I live in Costa Rica and Love it!!!
