Greetings and Request for information

Greetings:

This is my first post to this board, as I am a new member. My wife and i are coming to CR in a couple of days for about 4 weeks to view the country as a possible place to retire. I have read some of the previous posts, and there certainly is a lot of opinion on both sides regarding the cost and quality of living. Be that as it may, we are looking for ourselves as every ones perspective is different. We are flying into San Jose and staying for a few nights in order to evaluate the outlying neighborhoods such as Escaszu, Heredia, Grecia, Santa Ana, and others. Then we will be visiting other areas in the central valley and then the Pacific coast. Where is the best area in San Jose to stay and or recommendations on specific hotels? Also, is there a good bus system to get around the country, with some direct buses from city to city? Does anyone have a recommendation for a driver around San Jose who is bi lingual and a driver who could take us to other parts of the country? My wife would like to see the rain forest so any recommendations in that regard would also be appreciated as well as any recommendation on where to stay in Fortuna, Herradura, Manuael Antonio, Fortuna, or around Lake Arenal.

Thank you for your responses.
Tim
