Pub Crawl 23 June 2007

Some of you may be interested in meeting us and other Brits & Americans & folks from elsewhere on a pub crawl this Summer. Some FAQs may help you:

Theme: Wear a CRAZY Hat
Date: 23 June 2007
Time: 13.00
Meeting Place: Argyll Arms
Nearest Tube: Oxford Circus

The plan is simple: wear a CRAZY hat and then go drinking. Well meet near Oxford Circus Tube Station at 01:00pm at the Argyll Arms. The final schedule for all the pubs will be available on http://www.fornogoodreason.com after 12 May.

Theres a 5GBP requested donation on the day to the UKTE (United Kingdom Texas Exes) Scholarship Fund for which you will get a special sticker and your name in the hatfor prizes.

Can anyone come?
Yes. Bring a friend. The more the merrier.

Where will this pub crawl start?
Oxford Circus Tube Station or, more precisely, the Argyll Arms pub just outside and around the corner on the pedestrian-only Argyll Street.

What time does it start?
Arrive at the first pub around 01:00pm and be prepared to move out by 02:00pm to the second pub.

Why does it start so early (late)?
Its a weekend. Get up, have some breakfast, read the paper, shower, pop on your CRAZY HAT and come on over. For those accustomed to crawls starting at opening time, this is a late crawl. For those who were partying late the night before and are using this crawl as their hair of the dog, this is an early crawl. If you just cant seem to get here on time, see the next question.

Do I have to come for the whole day?
No. We hope that you do come for the whole day, but if you can't make it, meet us somewhere on route. Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut- Ernest Hemingway

Do I have to wear a hat?
Its not called the CRAZY HAT pub crawl for nothing. Cmon and join in!

Why do I need to give a donation to the UKTE scholarship fund Im an Aggie (or, some other silly excuse like I'm from somewhere else)?
This event has been organized by the UK Texas Exes. Giving back to our local community, the residents and citizens of the United Kingdom, provides assistance to incoming freshman to the University of Texas. Beyond the fact that this is a good cause, it may make up for anything stupid you may do during the crawl that embarrasses us in front of our host country.

Do I have to drink all those strange English Ales Ive never heard of?
David Moulton once asked and answered, Why is American beer served cold? So you can tell it from urine. Enough said. Branch out and live a little.

How much do we drink at each pub?
Hey, that's up to you! It's not a competition. We're supposed to be having fun! You probably want to have a drink in each pub, but probably not more than one. Some may want have a half at some stops rather than a pint. 9 pubs can be a long haul if youre not in shape.

Can I smoke on this crawl?
Yes. Its still legal up until 1 July 2007 in England. Afterwards, may we suggest nicotine replacement therapy or a hypnotist or a good coat for those cold sessions outside for a quick fag?

Whats' the plan for eating?
This crawl has got loads of places to eat at many of the pubs along the way. Even if you havent eaten lunch before the crawl begins, you won't be short of sustenance.

We hope to see you there!
