What is it like to retire in Gyeongju?

"Life for a retiree in Gyeongju can be quite fulfilling and vibrant. The city is known for its rich history and cultural heritage, making it a great place for those who enjoy exploring historical sites and museums. The Gyeongju National Museum, Bulguksa Temple, and Seokguram Grotto are among the many cultural attractions that retirees can visit. Gyeongju is also surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, including mountains, lakes, and parks. Retirees can enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and picnicking. The city is also home to several golf courses, providing another recreational option for retirees. While Gyeongju may not have the bustling nightlife of larger cities like Seoul, it does offer a variety of dining options, including traditional Korean restaurants and tea houses. There are also a number of local markets where retirees can shop for fresh produce and local goods. As for the expat community, while it may not be as large as in other Korean cities, there is still a presence of foreigners living in Gyeongju. There are expat groups and clubs that organize social events and activities, providing opportunities for retirees to meet new people and make friends. In terms of healthcare, Gyeongju has several hospitals and clinics that provide high-quality medical services. Many doctors and medical staff speak English, making it easier for expats to communicate their health concerns. Overall, Gyeongju offers a peaceful and culturally rich lifestyle for retirees. Its combination of historical attractions, recreational activities, and a welcoming community make it an attractive place for those looking to spend their retirement years in Korea," said one retiree in Gyeongju.
