What advice do you have for expats having a baby in Bukit Timah?

Answer this Question

We asked expat moms who gave birth in Bukit Timah about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said...

"Firstly, it's important to familiarize yourself with the healthcare system in Singapore. The country has a high standard of healthcare and many excellent hospitals, so you can be assured that you will receive good prenatal and postnatal care. Secondly, consider hiring a confinement nanny or maid to help you during the first few weeks after the baby is born. This is a common practice in Singapore and can be a great help, especially if you don't have family nearby. Thirdly, start looking for a pediatrician early. Many expats prefer to use pediatricians who are familiar with the healthcare standards and practices of their home country. Fourthly, if you plan to return to work after having your baby, start researching childcare options early. There are many high-quality childcare centers and preschools in Bukit Timah, but they can fill up quickly. Fifthly, take advantage of the many parenting groups and resources available in Singapore. These can be a great source of support and advice, as well as a way to meet other parents. Lastly, remember to take time to enjoy this special time in your life. Having a baby in a foreign country can be challenging, but it can also be an exciting and rewarding experience," remarked another expat who made the move to Bukit Timah, Singapore.
