What advice do you have for expats having a baby in Marine Parade?

Answer this Question

We asked expat moms who gave birth in Marine Parade about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said...

"Firstly, it's important to familiarize yourself with the healthcare system in Singapore. The country has a high standard of healthcare and many English-speaking doctors, so you should feel comfortable discussing your pregnancy and any concerns you may have. Secondly, consider hiring a confinement nanny or maid to help you during the first month after the baby is born. This is a common practice in Singapore and can be a great help, especially if you don't have family nearby. Thirdly, start looking into childcare options early. There are many high-quality childcare centers and kindergartens in Marine Parade, but they can fill up quickly. Fourthly, make sure to register the birth of your baby within 14 days. This can be done at any of the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) offices. Fifthly, if you're planning to travel with your newborn, apply for a passport for them as soon as possible. This can also be done at the ICA. Lastly, take advantage of the many parent and baby groups in Singapore. These can be a great way to meet other expats, share experiences, and get advice," remarked another expat who made the move to Marine Parade, Singapore.
