While many people living in the area speak Spanish, it is still beneficial to learn the language in order to make the most out of the area's culture and social life. Additionally, the cost of living in San Miguel de Allende is significantly higher than the national average in Mexico, meaning the average retiree would need to have a more substantial income to comfortably afford to settle in the area. Finally, finding reliable, quality healthcare can be difficult, as many facilities offer limited services," wrote a member who made the move to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
