What is it like to retire in Monterrey?
We asked retirees what it is like retiring in Monterrey. They said...
"Monterrey and its surroundings are great places to retire because of the varied climate, natural beauty, architectural wonders, and abundance of cultural attractions. There is an active expat community in the area, with various offerings for retirees to stay connected, such as weekly potlucks, social events, activities, and more. Cultural attractions in the area abound, from colorful local festivals to the National Center for the Arts, which offers theaters, art galleries, and a cultural center. Further, the city itself is home to several major museums, a zoo, and some ancient ruins. Meanwhile, the surrounding countryside provides opportunities for outdoor recreation and sightseeing, with activities such as cycling, walking, and horse riding popular amongst residents. Although nights tend to be more relaxed in Monterrey, there are plenty of local bars and nightclubs if you want a more lively evening," wrote a member who made the move to Monterrey, Mexico.
