About the Author
Deborah Fletcher is the author of Bitten by Spain
As someone who never really had a clue about what I wanted in life, I have lurched clumsily through it along a haphazard path in the blind faith that it’ll all be fine in the end!
From commencing a degree in pharmacy and then changing to biology; from teaching in FE Colleges and then completely retraining in accountancy/taxation; from running my own practice for ten years and then selling the lot to retrain in interior design; from living in England working with rules and then fleeing its shores to find my own brand of anarchy.
Born in the UK because the gods have a sense of humour, I am attracted to sunshine, olives, garlic and red wine and could not seriously have been destined for such a damp little island. So I completed the escape tunnel in 2003 and fled to Southern Spain.
Fate has thrown me any number of curved balls since I have been here in my beautiful and savage mountain valley, as I come to terms with all the local wildlife (including the natives).
I am constantly watched by neighbours, since I am clearly clueless about how to do things properly (ie: their way). I am, furthermore, as mad as an old sheep when it comes to collecting animals as I grow my own organic produce, keep hens, write, make crystal jewellery and run a chaotic menagerie… as happy as a rotund pink animal in the dubious brown stuff.
