Summary: It's no secret that the cost of living in London is extremely high, but how high? For a newcomer or someone preparing to move to London, this cost of living comparison offers some insight.

On Wikipedia's List of most expensive cities for expatriate employees (2009), note that New York is 8, London is 16 (Mercer survey)

According to Mercer's Worldwide Cost of Living survey (2010 City rankings - Top 50 cities), using New York as the Base City, Paris and London tied at 17.

this is very helpful. As I thought it would be rediculous in expense, it's about the same as expences for food,gas,shops,(except for jeans-which are about $45.oo, here in concord,new hampshire.)plus apartments are about $1200.00 a month. Thank you for the info. Julie M.
