What advice would you offer others about banking as an expat in your country? What do you wish you had known about banking when you first arrived?

We have no MX bank account for the last 4 years (Merida) and use HSBC ATMs (convenient) and 80% credit cards. Smooooth, no problems at all. At first we were anxious about this but soon learned the ropes, The airline miles help for those times when we want to travel to US etc. We have loved the experience.
