If you plan to stay in Ho Chi Minh City for a while, you will need to apply for a temporary residence card. This card is issued by the local police station and is valid for up to three months. You will also need to obtain a visa before entering Vietnam. Depending on the length of your stay, you may need to apply for a tourist visa, a business visa, or a student visa.
