An Expat Talks about Retiring in Phan Thiet, Vietnam

Submitted by ResearchTeam

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Phan Thiet

What have been the most challenging aspects of being retired abroad?

One of the most challenging aspects of retiring in Phan Thiet is the language barrier. Although English is becoming more widely spoken, it is still not the primary language in the area. Additionally, the cost of living in Phan Thiet is relatively low, but the availability of goods and services may be limited compared to more developed areas. Furthermore, the climate in Phan Thiet can be quite hot and humid, which may be difficult for some retirees to adjust to. Finally, the healthcare system in Vietnam is still developing, so access to quality medical care may be limited.
