Having pharmaceutical drugs shipped to Belize

Post New Topic

I need a specific heart drug shipped to Belize that isn’t available here. Has anyone else shipped medications to Belize successfully ? And how did you have the package delivered to Belize..
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I would not reccomend that. The postal service is fine, but customs is corrupt and will filch the drug and sell it to their relatives. Give me the name of the drug and my pharmacist homie in Corozal will probably get it locally or from Chetumal

Once again the information 5 Allan is giving is erroneous.
Customs dont steal medications, especially rare ones that no one has any idea what to do with in Belize.
Yes, once there was an issue with theft of items coming in through the postal service,, but that was for valuable like cameras and cash,
If a drug isnt available here, it means no belizean is using it, which means that even if there still are corrupt customs officials, why would they steal something that has no value to anyone in Belize?
Anyhow, if its life an death medication courier it with DHL, or Fed Ex (More expensive) - though it might have to be sent to your local pharmacy and "dispensed" by them if its a very controlled substance.
New Pharmaceutical control laws were passed late last year and the process for importation has changed.
Allan, if you havent lived here in years you should stop giving advice as if you have. Most people dont realize that your not in Belize, and assume you are.

These questions are important to people, so your made up or 10 years old answers arent helpful in most circumstances.

Conmurphy is a commercial expat., and thus of limited credibility. My contacts in Belize ( pharmacist and internist with an in house pharmacy) indicate that shipping is a bad idea. As I said name the drug and I will ensure u have it locally.
No fee. Socialism in action

Addendum
Some “weirdness” started to happen a short while back where the GOB required all drugs shipped in to the country from outside had to be inspected/approved by the Ministry of Health. People were unable to get scripts filled because of a shortage at the pharmacies.
Again do not trust info from conmurphy and be cautious with bradnbelize

Allan is probably correct on this count. I have pharmacy homies in Corozal, they will usually order for you. They may get the needed drug out of Belgium or Europe but it will probably work...

Commercial Expat? Lol.
You mean that I live and work in Belize, and therefore have a handle on what goes on down here.
I suppose everyone should take advice from people who never worked here and havent lived here for years and dont know what they are talking about.... like you alan?
When was the last time you lived here full time?
Half a decade ago? Longer?

I would rather believe Dr. Alan than Con any day, Con isnt a med. man, just an expat. Who i know is pretty much intouch with many things here in Belize. Con, i think at times you are a con. Just saying, but ur as bad as CC4me, people who moved to CC in the last 6 months or so who now think they are experts not expats. Enjoy your spats. They have no effect on me at all.

As far as I can see all the advice given here is free and should be taken as such. Those like CC4me, Con and others may have something to gain from the advice they give. They may have something to sell or need to puff up the country because they are in too deep and don't have a good exit strategy. Those who have come and gone not so much. In my world I don't believe anything I hear and only half of what I see so comments here that peak my interest only give me something to research. I guarantee you some on here are trying to make a buck. Why would you not want to listen to those seasoned and at least hear what they have to say? If you get tired of hearing it move on. You don't have to read every post. I personally chose not to retire in Belize because of some of things they had to say. Did my research and moved on. Those on here that get pissy need to get a life besides expatexchange.com! IMHO

A most most informative, and helpful reply, Hopefully, the OP will seize the opportunity of your offer for help.

However, I fail to comprehend how a "retired" U.S. Navy vet (with a serious heart condition), could paint himself into such a corner ????

“ serious heart condition” is just hypertension, experienced by millions of people. Doesn’t matter where on earth you live. Multiple drugs work but there’s one in particular that works best for me.
I chose to live “ in this corner” for many reasons, especially my wife”, hope that answers your ridiculous statement.

So whats the name of the drug? Unless you want it smuggled in I can have it there in few days or less. No problemo.

It is not the place of any of us to question why a person should wish to live in Belize. I also do not recall the original poster saying he had a "serious" heart condition.
