Moving Headaches

I'm coming down at the end of March. Trying to get everything organized for a basically wing-it, impulsive type is challenging enough. I am diligently working to get everything researched and in place ahead of time. Estate sale, reservations, documents, etc. I have found a wonderful host at the temp. house I will be staying at who is providing me transport from the airport and lots of invaluable information. She is not only allowing me to bring my menagerie of 2 cats and 2 dogs but welcoming them. The one thing that is driving me crazy is getting the pets there. Now for my rant. I DO NOT recommend bringing pets on United Airlines! It has been a nightmare. I was given erroneous information by PetSafe, which handles United's pet transports and booked a flight on the weekend. You can't bring pets on weekends because there is no customs agent. PetSafe apologized but United said too bad so sad and charged me $200 to change flights. Then they say I can't bring the dogs because their kennels are too big for the planes that go to Costa Rica. Information again provided after the fact. Oh yes - there was a picture on Yahoo News showing a kennel was left for some time sitting out on the tarmac near a United plane out in cold and rain with no one in sight! So now I am looking at shipping the dogs on another airline and possibly paying for my nephew making the trip with them. Did I mention I still have to get the custom's permit to bring 2 big dogs. Ack. It's a good thing I love them and won't leave them on my brother's door step. I will get this done however; I am nothing if not tenacious.
