What do I need to know before moving to Sorrento?

When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Sorrento, they said:

"Sorrento is a beautiful coastal town in southwestern Italy, known for its stunning views, delicious cuisine, and rich history. Before moving to Sorrento, expats should be aware of several important factors. Firstly, the cost of living in Sorrento can be quite high, especially when it comes to housing and dining out. However, local markets offer affordable fresh produce and other groceries. Secondly, while many locals speak English, especially in the tourism industry, it's beneficial to learn some basic Italian phrases to help with day-to-day life. Thirdly, the healthcare system in Italy is generally good, but it's recommended to have comprehensive health insurance. Fourthly, public transportation in Sorrento is reliable, but many locals prefer to walk or bike due to the town's small size. Fifthly, Sorrento has a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters, so pack your wardrobe accordingly. Sixthly, the pace of life in Sorrento is slower than in many other places, which can take some getting used to. Seventhly, Sorrento is a popular tourist destination, so it can get crowded during peak travel seasons. Lastly, it's important to note that while Sorrento is generally safe, like any other place, it's always important to take basic safety precautions," commented one expat who made the move to Sorrento.
