It's a great place for those who enjoy outdoor activities, with plenty of opportunities for walking, hiking, and bird watching. The town is also home to a golf course and several parks. Oban is a small town, but it has a vibrant community spirit. There are several clubs and societies that retirees can join, from gardening clubs to book clubs. While there isn't a large expat community, the locals are known for their friendliness and hospitality, so newcomers are likely to feel welcome. Culturally, Oban has a lot to offer. The town is home to several historical sites, including McCaig's Tower and Dunollie Castle. There are also a number of art galleries and craft shops where local artists display their work.
