Is the cost of living in Isle of Skye high?

We asked people how much they someone comfortably live on in Isle of Skye, they wrote:

"The cost of living in Isle of Skye, is relatively high compared to other parts of the UK, mainly due to its remote location. Housing is one of the most significant expenses, with property prices being quite high due to the demand from both locals and outsiders looking for holiday homes. Rental prices are also high, especially during the tourist season. The cost of groceries and household items is also higher than the national average due to transportation costs. Eating out, while not exorbitant, is also more expensive than in many other parts of the UK. Transportation can be a significant expense, especially for those who rely on their cars, as petrol prices are higher than the national average. Public transportation is limited and not always reliable, so owning a car is almost a necessity. Utilities such as electricity and heating can also be costly, especially during the colder months. Internet and mobile phone services may also be more expensive than in urban areas. Despite these costs, many residents feel that the high quality of life, stunning natural beauty, and close-knit community make the Isle of Skye worth the extra expense," remarked one in Isle of Skye.
