What advice do you have for expats having a baby in Al Raha Beach?
We asked expat moms who gave birth in Al Raha Beach about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said...
"Firstly, it's important to understand the healthcare system in the UAE. The country has a high standard of healthcare and many doctors and nurses speak English. However, it's advisable to have a comprehensive health insurance plan that covers maternity costs, as these can be high. Secondly, you should familiarize yourself with the local customs and laws regarding childbirth. In the UAE, it's illegal to give birth outside of marriage, so ensure your marital status is legally recognized. Thirdly, start looking for a suitable hospital or clinic for your prenatal care and delivery early on. Al Raha Beach is close to many reputable hospitals in Abu Dhabi. It's advisable to visit a few to find one where you feel comfortable. Fourthly, consider hiring a doula or midwife who can provide additional support and guidance throughout your pregnancy and during childbirth. They can also help you understand the local maternity system better. Fifthly, join local expat groups or online forums. They can provide valuable advice and support, and you can learn from their experiences. Lastly, understand the process for registering your baby's birth and getting a passport. The UAE has specific procedures for these, and it's important to follow them to avoid legal complications," said a member in Al Raha Beach, the UAE.
