Housing and rent prices in Sapporo are generally more affordable than in many U.S. cities. Eating out in Sapporo can be cheaper as well, with a wide range of affordable dining options. Public transportation in Sapporo is also efficient and reasonably priced, which could save you money compared to owning and maintaining a car in the U.S. However, some goods and services, such as imported products, can be more expensive in Japan. Health insurance is mandatory in Japan and may be more or less expensive than in the U.S. depending on your income and health condition. Therefore, whether or not you save money by living in Sapporo would depend on your lifestyle and spending habits," remarked another expat who made the move to Sapporo, Japan.
