As a foreigner living in Auckland, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Auckland if they have access to public healthcare in Auckland. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"As a foreigner living in Auckland, your access to public healthcare will depend on your visa status and the duration of your stay. If you hold a work visa valid for two years or more, or a resident visa, you will be eligible for publicly funded healthcare services. New Zealand's public healthcare system provides quality medical care, including emergency services, hospital care, and some specialist services. However, waiting times for non-urgent treatments can be long. It is recommended to have private health insurance to cover additional costs and access private healthcare services for faster treatment," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Auckland, New Zealand.
