"As retirees, it has been easy to make friends with other expats especially through our language school. Making social connections with the locals has been more difficult as portuguese society is somewhat closed to strangers. However, our upstairs portugues neighbor has been very socialble and has helped us improve our language skills and interact more with the locals. Over time we have made more portuguese friends and expect to make more in the future," remarked another expat who made the move to Lisbon, Portugal.
