I see everyone has their own personal theories about me. To answer all your delightful questions, no, I don't have any drug crimes in my history. No, I did not go to Puerto Rico and get a visa that way. Yes, I did help several good guys who otherwise wouldn't have been able to come here. Everyone deserves a second chance. Especially when they're from the United Police States of Amerikkka, where it is a crime to be poor. Yes, I hate that miserable country because there I'm just some low-class spic from Queens. What does being bilingual get you there? The right to wash dishes? Here I go to an honest job and receive an honest pay. No one belittles me because of my skin color, there is no stop and frisk, no racial profiling. It's not a crime for me to have my weekend hustle selling t-shirts outside the stadium. No cops will roll up to me with guns drawn because I'm trying to feed myself. The US can kiss my Ecuadorian ass. I even told them so when I went to the US embassy in Bogotá and cancelled my passport and social security number. If I never see the United States again, it will be too soon. Having said that, I'm sure people become expats because they are dissatisfied with the state of their lives in wherever they happen to be from. So don't judge me. I'm not here on vacation. Interesting piece in the NYT magazine this past Sunday on the job of moderating forums and keeping robot posts from comment areas. They address the problem of contamination that must be fought constantly. This area is another of the series of disappointments the culture has had with technical inventions that were to bring positive social revolution....
TV was one. Didn't happen. Internet has been more positive overall. But long ago when people just speculated they imagined that when citizens could express themselves and discuss issues directly then peace and understanding would prevail. That ain't gonna happen either.
In this NYT magazine article someone is quoted as saying, humans will repeatedly seek technical solutions to human problems. Social problems. Unhappy citizens who don't know exactly why they are unhappy or enjoy wallowing in their unhappiness might just be a fixed percentage demographically, some natural distribution. A constant immune to change.
Huxley's novel, "Brave New World" suggested a future solution to this problem. Live long enough and it's all Science Fiction.

Yes it is -- but it is a bit scary -- but it becomes a clearinghouse of sorts as well.
And in that way it assists the various lurking authorities who can in turn do as they need to to tap into protecting us from individuals like this from gaining entrance to the country.

Now might I ask what part of:

This was a matter well discussed the last time a convicted felon attempted to pull a similar scam -- trying to convince us that his drug trafficking was no big deal and his time spent in a federal penitentiary was nothing much.
There are felonies that the visa office will look past -- thos that are designated state and those that less to do with drugs, trafficking narcotics and money laudering -- in other words those that are involved or could be involved with drug cartels in any way.
So whoever assisted you was repeating the efforts of those who analyzed this matter previously ad nauseum -- it is the way of forums to do just that.
As for #1ingles...how ironic he claims that old Vegas line -- as in fact this IS the oringinal Vegas... so senor... yes it matters what you did and no -- you won't be making your "new start" here. That's life -- it is not the movies, no you don;t always get a second start, and you defintiely don;t get the opportunity to bring your shady nature to try your scamming here. I agree 100%. If prison wasn't meant to be a payment of debt to society, then what's the point of locking people up? Once you are released from prison, your debt to society is paid in full. What you did before does not matter, and it especially should not matter in a foreign country. It doubly especially should not matter if said conviction took place in the Great Satan USA. The US can keep it's prison industrial complex and shove it! I renounced my US citizenship last year. I am now 100 percent Ecuadorian. I have a wife and daughter who are Ecuadorian. I don't care who is reading this. They couldn't deport me if they tried.

I tell people this because sometimes we have stuff in our past that should remain in our past. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, Besides, we all know how the US criminal justice system operates. You can have an arrest for selling tshirts in the street without a license, and it can prevent you from ever finding a job or getting a visa for a foreign country. That said...with all due RESPECT... I must state the mindset of MANY (esp.Amerikans) is mind boggling towards "felons". First of all... Amerika has the LARGEST prison population on earth holding 25% of ALL inmates on earth. It is a FOR PROFIT business...IE Human Warehousing. It takes NOTHING these days to get a felony. DO NOT confuse a felony with a SOCIOPATH/PSYCHOPATH/DEVIANT/SEXUAL PREDATOR (as even in prison they must be kept seperate from the general population as the other "felons" will kill them!)... which, btw, is less than a couple of percent of all inmates and they usually don't get out. MANY (and I mean a LOT!) people in the USSA are in prison falsely (google Timothy Masters)...as I WAS! Why...whether the crime was committed or not is there this permanent label of "felon"? Did not the person pay their so-called "debt" to society ( a sick and hypocritical society at that), and is this not a valid reason that MANY expat in the first place?? Why in Amerika are asshats like Michael Vick, Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan given extreme leniency and FORGIVENESS but the average Joe isn't? Check your premise before you take the moral high ground.
That said... I totally agree... WHY try and abrogate the law by BREAKING it? I never advocate "shady" dealings...it's not right. But I also don't judge someone that has to "work the system" if that's the ONLY way to get to their "non-criminal" goal...IE expating to get a better life.

I have for so long operated on the assumption that any electronic communications was compromised (ie not secret) that I am always amazed when people do this sort of thing.
Is this related to the baby peek-a-boo revelation? That others can see me even though I can't see them?
In this case, others (immigration) can see my suggestion...even though I am directing it at somebody else (in a public forum). This is very basic perception/awareness.
Not quite telling a High-Jack joke in the terminal of an airport...but similar.

And...that is why it will be standard operating procedure for all the Immigration offices, not just Cuenca, to require FBI checks sooner rather than later for all USA citizens -- because we do have these sorts of charming individuals muddying up the procedure.

The second part of this question would be....why?
Why would you want people that could not pass a criminal backgroud check to be allowed to live here?
