Possibility of moving to Mumbai in the next few weeks..

My husband works for an investment bank and an opportunity has arisen for him to go to Mumbai for three months (with a possibility to live there!) to help with training...he has accepted the offer on one condition, myself and our 5 month old son go with him. I'm rather excited about experiencing something new, but thought I would post on here and get as much information and helpful tips as possible as we may be told to leave in a matter of weeks. My main concern is our son who has just turned 5 months old...What is Mumbai like as a City? What are the people like? Is it a good environment for a young baby and is it safe? We will be staying in a 6 star hotel and get allocated a driver for the duration of our stay, so we won't be needing public transport. My husband is Brisitsh while I am South African - are there any expats in Mumbai with young families?
Also, what jabs do we need to get before heading off - I have heard we need to take Malaria tabs...what about our baby - doe she take Malaria tabs in a liquid form or does he get a jab? Is the medical in Mumbai good and is English spoken as a main language? (or do I have to buy a tanslation book?) :) Excuse my lack of knowledge about India, hence the reason I'm asking all these questions...
