Exploring with hopes to move

Greetings,
I've been browsing some of the other topics and responses off and on for a few months now, and have decided to spend a few weeks in late May/early June visiting Panama. I was there two years ago and knew at that time that eventually I would be back--I have wanted to move there for the past few years. During that visit, I enjoyed my time in Panama City, Pedasi, a short drive through Horconcito and David, and then a few days in Boquete. What I'm looking for is a town that is at least the size of Boquete. I would love to be near a community of expats, but I also strongly desire to be immersed in the community of locals. Also, it's important that there be opportunities to volunteer as well. As I plan my trip, I'm curious to hear what those of you on this forum recommend as towns that I should not miss. I plan on flying into Costa Rica to visit friends (in San Isidro) in mid-May, and then head over to Volcan/Boquete/David soon after. From there I'll just head toward Panama City and fly back to the USA from there. Can anyone tell me about Santa Fe? Also, I'm curious to know if anyone has had success securing work teaching English. My background is in education and I also have a TEFL certificate, though for the past several years I've worked in the area of international child welfare. I'd love to teach English, though, even if it's just having private students vs. working in a TEFL school or at a public school.

I'm curious to know what Michelle decided after her visit last month; I read your post and responses and we sound like we're on a similar path.

Many thanks,
Judi in Oregon
