By Joshua Wood, LPC

Last updated on May 30, 2023

Summary: The pros of living in Chipping Norton, UK include its close proximity to the Cotswolds, a beautiful area of countryside with plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy. The town itself is also very picturesque, with a variety of independent shops, cafes and restaurants. The local community is friendly and welcoming, and there are plenty of events and activities to get involved in. The cons of living in Chipping Norton include the fact that it is a relatively small town, so there may be limited job opportunities and amenities. The cost of living is also higher than in some other parts of the UK, and the town can be quite busy during peak tourist season.

What are the pros and cons of living in Chipping Norton?

Expats, digital nomads and retirees living in Chipping Norton responded:

"Expats and digital nomads living in Chipping Norton appreciate the small-town charm and the close-knit community. They also enjoy the easy access to the Cotswolds and the surrounding countryside, which offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities. On the downside, some expats and digital nomads find the lack of public transportation and nightlife to be a bit of a challenge," explained one expat living in Chipping Norton.

"For family reasons, I came to live here last year but it is not a place I would have chosen. As well as being built on a slope, it is very cold and windy in winter and amenities are not abundant. There are very few 'useful' shops and those here are mostly boutiques. Moreton in Marsh, 8 miles distant, offers a lot more, as well as a railway station you can walk to from the town. In my view, as a single person, it has been easy to make friends, the community are very welcoming. There are many things one can join as an older person," said one in Chipping Norton.
