What is it like to retire in Namur?

"Life for a retiree in Namur can be quite pleasant and fulfilling. The city is known for its relaxed pace of life, making it an ideal place for those who wish to enjoy their retirement years in peace and tranquility. The city is rich in history and culture, with a number of museums, art galleries, and historical sites to explore. The Citadel of Namur, a well-preserved fortress with panoramic views of the city, is a must-visit. Namur is also home to a number of parks and green spaces, providing ample opportunities for outdoor recreation. Walking, cycling, and picnicking by the riverside are popular activities among locals and expats alike. The city's location at the confluence of the Meuse and Sambre rivers also means that water-based activities like boating and fishing are readily available. While Namur may not have the bustling nightlife of larger cities like Brussels or Antwerp, it does have a fair share of bars, pubs, and restaurants where retirees can enjoy a quiet evening out. The city also hosts a number of festivals and events throughout the year, adding to its vibrant cultural scene. As for the expat community, while not as large as in some other Belgian cities, it is quite active. There are several expat groups and clubs that organize regular meetups, social events, and trips, providing a great way for retirees to meet new people and make friends. The locals are also known for their friendliness and hospitality, making it easy for expats to feel at home. In terms of healthcare, Belgium has one of the best healthcare systems in the world, and Namur is no exception. There are several high-quality hospitals and clinics in the city, and most healthcare professionals speak English, making it easy for expats to access medical services. Overall, Namur offers a high quality of life for retirees, with its rich culture, recreational opportunities, and welcoming community," said one retiree in living in Namur, Belgium.
