Housing is relatively affordable, with rental prices being lower than in larger cities such as Auckland or Wellington. The cost of groceries and dining out is also reasonable, although it can vary depending on the specific location and type of restaurant. Utilities such as electricity, heating, cooling, and water are also relatively affordable. Transportation costs are also moderate, with public transportation being a cost-effective option. However, owning a car can be more expensive due to the cost of petrol and car maintenance. Health care is generally affordable due to New Zealand's public health system, but private health insurance can add to the cost. Overall, the cost of living in Rotorua is manageable, but it can vary depending on personal lifestyle and spending habits," wrote a person living in Rotorua.
