Housing is relatively affordable compared to other major cities in New Zealand, with rental prices for a one-bedroom apartment in the city center being more affordable than in cities like Auckland or Wellington. Groceries and dining out in Napier are also reasonably priced. A meal at an inexpensive restaurant can be quite affordable, while a three-course meal for two at a mid-range restaurant is slightly more expensive. Transportation costs in Napier are also moderate. Public transportation is available and affordable, and the cost of gasoline is comparable to other parts of the country. Healthcare in Napier is generally of high quality and is affordable for residents. However, private health insurance can be quite expensive. Overall, the cost of living in Napier is lower than in larger cities in New Zealand, but higher than in many smaller towns. It's a good option for those who want a balance between city life and affordability," said one person in Napier.
