As a foreigner living in Limerick, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Limerick if they have access to public healthcare in Limerick. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"As a foreigner living in Limerick, you will have access to public healthcare, provided you meet certain residency requirements. The Irish public healthcare system, known as the Health Service Executive (HSE), offers a range of services, including general practitioner visits, hospital care, and emergency services. However, depending on your income and residency status, you may be required to pay for some services or obtain private health insurance. The quality of public healthcare in Ireland is generally good, but waiting times for non-emergency treatments can be long. It is advisable to familiarize yourself with the specific healthcare entitlements based on your residency status and consider supplementary private health insurance if necessary," wrote a member who made the move to Limerick, Ireland.
