Moving from UK

I am currently living in the UK, I wish to move to Jamaica in the next year and a half. I'm working and earning a good wage. I visited Jamaica for 4 weeks - stayed in Port Antonio with my brother in laws family. The quality of life is everything i could ask for as i'm not high maintenance and the simplest of things make me happy. As a 26 year old female i am not familiar with what is required (documents) when moving overseas. I do not know where to begin and any advice would be much appreciated. Would buying land and having my own home built be cost effective? I have spoken to my brother inlaws family in jamaica and they have suggested business ideas that would benefit me more than a regular job would. I just need a little advice from anybody who has moved to jamaica from the UK and how you get by? Thanks in advance :)

Your questions are very general.

Coming to Jamaica for 4 week trip and living in Jamaica are 2 different things. I have been to Jamaica many, many times for different durations (a week - 4 months). I am always learning new important stuff.

Buying land and building can be cost effective, ONLY if you have time to oversee the works yourself, are assertive, and know personally good construction people to fulfil the venture.

I cannot advise about the documents you will need as you have not provided enough information about your circumstances.

Having you own business certainly takes a lot of hard work to get off the ground, not to forget a lot of capital.

IMHO, i really think that you need to visit jamaica a whole lot more than a 4 week trip to make an informed decision.
