Every day life in kingston

Good day

We got an offer to move to Kingston on summer 19. We r currently located in Lagos, Nigeria. As I understand safety issues are the same as in Lagos, so I pass! I am confused on the area we should choose our house tho. We would like to have a house because we have a dog. Maybe in a compound with a pool and some kind of playground. Which area will you suggest?
We are thinking of Hillel School due to British curriculum my kids attending now. Any suggestions on that?
Is it easy to find a nanny and house “assistants”? How much is their salary?
Also do expats drive by themselves or they have drivers? We don’t know how to drive on the British system we would prefer to have drivers. Is that possible and affordable?
Is there any kind of Private Club we can join?
Any good pediatrician, hospital, clinic, vet you can suggest?

Thank you very much.

Ps. Do you know if there are Greeks living on the island?

Hi TVGr,

Interesting move from Lagos to Kingston. I have an office in both locations and moved to Jamaica 10 months ago. I live walking distance from Hillel School.

Regarding personal safety, Jamaica is much safer than Lagos. Domestic helpers USD$80 - 100, and while you would be expected to pay more for a driver you will get one for USD$120 if you are providing a car. The other option is to find a trused local driver which will cost you a lot less however can be unreliable so after 3 months I ensured I had my own car.

PM me and I will be able to answer some of your questions.
