Boquete Break In and Theft

The following notification was sent out last night to Rodny Direct subscribers and is forwarded to you with permission.

We now have positive indication that a new criminal (possibly but not likely more than one person) is operating in the canyon communities of Alto Boquete. He has a novel approach to successfully stealing from expats and possibly Panamanians as well.

This burglar has demonstrated that he can squeeze through a one-foot square opening and now through a set of burglar bars. He has extracted about $4,000 in value from our community in just two known crimes. How much more will he cost us before he is caught or driven out of town?

To: Dear members,
This evening, residents from Brisas Boquetenas called to report that when they got back home after been out for about an hour and a half, found that their house was broken into. Even though the windows have bars, the burglars get in through them and also get out the same way since no doors were forced open. And because of this same fact, the burglar was only able to take 2 lap tops and cash from the house and all other articles were left inside since there was no way to get anything else out. The important lesson here is that it is important to do not leave any keys in your house when you go out so that any burglar will not be able to ransack it once inside. And perhaps check if your bars are big enough to let your lap top out, if so maybe there are important measures you should take to prevent this from happening.
The police went to the place.

More details to come later as they develop.
Rodny Moreno.
