National Geographic Travel names Panama

The report of National Geographic Travel "Best Trips Spring 2018" ranked Panama among the 14 best destinations around the world to travel during the spring season 2018.

In the report of the renowned magazine, an image of the Coiba National Park appears by Tomas Munita, from the New York Times, in which photo caption describes the marine reserve as popular in the country, either to snorkel or take a tour of a prison that worked for more than 80 years, reported the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP).

The review on Panama assures that it is a cheaper, culturally diverse and less populated paradise of exuberant jungles, volcanoes and clear water beaches.

It also suggests that you can book a luxury cabin on the islands of Las Perlas or stay at an ecotourist hotel in Santa Catalina, on the Panamanian Pacific coast.

From this last place, he points out that horses are still a means of transport, the observation of the stars is "exquisite", local fishermen serve fresh seafood and bananas for approximately $ 6 per dish.

The text also indicates that the tours to the Coiba National Park offer divers the possibility of swimming with sea turtles, manta rays and whale sharks.

The National Park of Coiba (Panama), which is part of the Mesoamerican Marine Corridor along with the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador, Gorgona and Malpelo in Colombia, and Isla del Coco in Costa Rica, was included by UNESCO in the list of sites considered Heritage World of Humanity in the year 2005.

President Juan Carlos Varela has announced the incorporation of Coiba to the tourist offer of Panama, respecting all the ecological aspects, "in a very efficient way, without affecting its marine, insular and coastal ecosystems".

In addition to Panama, National Geographic's list of the best destinations in Latin America also includes Peru and Colombia.

The publication offers a wide choice of places like the Columbia and Snake Rivers, in the United States; Namibia; Japan; Fogo Island Inn, in Canada, Peru; Israel; Seychelles Islands, in the Indian Ocean; East Coast of Sri Lanka; Colombia; Morocco; Madagascar, the largest island in the African continent; Svalboard, Norwegian archipelago; and the Netherlands.
