Airline baggage VS Property importation

I have been reading "Advice on shipping Household Goods to Portugal", which allows one shipment without a special permit.

After reading the well written requirements, I find myself pretty daunted. Certificates from consulates, inventories from embassies, attestations, declarations, etc.

So here is my somewhat odd question in a nutshell. I am moving to Portugal, hopefully permanently, and am awaiting the governments response to my submission for repatriation (after a 525 year absence).

My House is currently under an offer of sale and may close in as little as a week. I will then have 31 days to buy a ticket, paper my dog, prepare my books for shipment (later by a friend) and either arrange shipping of my belonging OR lug them on a plane.

I have sold ALL of my belongings with the exception of three internationally approved airline cases., of items. Essentially ugly, plastic cubes on wheels, with collapsible handles. Each measures and weighs appropriately for international travel.

I also have my carry on and my dog in her collapsible kennel It's a lot for one traveler to manage in a foreign country. I could arrange to ship my three cases. BUT I don't have a deed, work permit or residency permit and frankly, don't think I have the time necessary to produce and send documents to the Portuguese embassy before departure, even if I had a home.

Can I simply roll three suitcases of belongings into Amsterdam, Transfer onto a plane and into Lisbon, without calling it shipment of household goods?

Shoes, a radio, a camera, family Menorah and Kiddush cups (silver religious objects), cd's, desk supplies, documents, binoculars and clothing.

No furniture, flatware, vehicles, linens. Just 3 "suitcases"with some admittedly odd objects.

I don't care about duty or cost, just expediency of getting my stuff from here to there.

Ideas?
