Central Hihglands is in the centre of Vietnam and includes the provinces as: Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Lam Dong. The majorities of residents in Tay Nguyen are Jarai and Ede, the people of Malyao- Pholynesian languages, and the people of Mon- Khmer languages as Bahnar & K’nor. These ethnic minorities have settled in Central Highlands for long time until the immigration of the Kinh people appeared and led to many changes over the last few decades. Due to the policy of Vietnam Government namely “Construct the new economic area” in Central Highlands from 1961 to 1988, Vietnam Government aimed to reorganize and reallocate the population an labor so the Kinh People immigrated Tay Nguyen and changed the ethnic minorities’ habitats.
Tay Nguyen is not located in a unique Plateau but lies on series of contiguous plateaus such as: Kon Tum Plateau, Kon Plong Plateau, Kon Ha Nung Plateau, Pleiku Plateau. Tay Nguyen can be itself divided into three sub-regions based on its deviation in topography and climate: North Tay Nguyen includes Kon Tum and Gia Lai provinces, Middle Tay Nguyen includes Dak Lak and Dak Nong and South Tay Nguyen includes Lam Dong. With this kind of terrain Central Highlands are endowed fabulously natural sceneries, especially, Buon Ma Thuot is a provincial capital of producing coffees of Vietnam and Tay Nguyen is also one of three richest natural bauxite sources in the world. Tay Nguyen is a Geopolitics of Southern Vietnam and Indochina during war.

Nowadays, Tay Nguyen pays more attention to develop regional tourism such as: the unspoiled forests, Dray Nur imposing waterfalls, Ako Dhong village, Yok Don, especially, Da Lat (Lam Dong province), one of the most beautiful city and fame for the love romance with flowers’ villas and known as city of eternal spring with diverse flowers type flaunted all the year and so on. All the places are suitable for tourists who want to get off the common tourist trail. You can enjoy the Gong music and traditional dance show, also enjoy local rice wine “ruou can”, and travel with locals by riding elephant and dugout. Moreover, you will experience and get surprised with grandeur of Central Highlands with the impressive and tremendous power of Dray Nur waterfall.

Dray Nur waterfall is about 30 km from the Southwest of Buon Ma Thuot city. Dray Nur with two other waterfall, Dray Sap, and Gia Long are located on the Srepok river created by mingling the Krong No (Husband river) and Krong Ana (wife river). Therefore, the water pours violently, fogs spray out with powerful sounds that are all very impressive. Additionally, these waterfalls are surrounded by forest landscape created majestic scenery thus this place is also ideal one for tourist to walk along the river and wade through the suspension bridge or go for picnic together alongside the river.

Yok Don National Park (Buon Don district) is about 40 km far from the west of Buon Ma Thuat city where preserves diversity of natural resources of precious national forest ecosystem with many species of birds, herbs and orchids, rare animals, national lakes, rivers and waterfalls. Travelling Yok Don National Park is home to many wild elephants receiving from Tanh Linh forest and other rare birds like eagle, land royal phoenix and some other animals named in the World Red Book. Visitors exploring Yok Don National Park have chance to attend some activities such as: hiking, camping, elephant riding, bird watching, and observing animals at night by pick- up trucks.
