Moving to Karlsruhe/Heidelberg Area

Hi, I am an American teacher with children about to take a leap to Germany in June. My partner is German and I look forward to the new cultural experience but would like to know if there are any kind of expat networks in the area for playdates, social activities, etc. Would love to hear from you...Also, any advice and tips from experienced expats welcomed!
