Salary Range

Hi all, don't know the local currency there but am now looking at a job in Budapest. I make about 70K US a year here in San Francisco and would want a comparable lifestyle in Hungary e.g. 1-2 bedroom apt., ability to eat out regularly and vacation a couple times a year.

I'm not expecting a hungarian salary to port well across international borders, I know that salaries are much lower there. But what I do want is a solid salary by local standards.

Any info you can give me about the local economy and how to negotiate a salary would be most appreciated. I've worked in asia before but this is my first in europe.

cheers,
rob

:) You neglected to mention what you do for a living as it would make a big difference in what you earn.

I know that a handyman quoted me 7,000HUF for the first hour and 6,000HUF thereafter - I needed taking down and putting up drapes and looking at the washing machine connection. So if you are handy.....

Hi
I have similar question like this. Sorry to hijack the original question.

I am an Indian, currently working in the UK on work permit with an IT company. My current salary is around £48,000. I have utilised my 4 years out of 5 years work permit Visa in the UK.
My wife's job has transferred to Budapest and she has got senior role and hike in pay compared to her UK salary. I am planning to find a job there and few interviews are lined up.
Could any please tell me what salary an expat would get for 13+ years of experience in an IT company? I have also done my MBA Finance from India's top notch college.
Appreciate your help here.
Many thanks
