Your word means NOTHING in Hungary!

If you deal with some Government office in Hungary you have to provide documentation, end of story.
They simply won't take your word for it. For example they require you to give your address. Most cases it is not enough to verbalize it NO! You have to provide documentation i.e. address card (lak cim kartya). Otherwise they won't accept/believe you! Now even children have to have address card. A child of 8 years of age already has four official document besides their birth cerificate. They have the compulsary ID (Szemelyi) then there is the the address card (lak cim kartya) then there is the Health Card (TAJ) and their School ID which is incidentally NOT issued by the school like in the US but issued by the local burocratic office (Onkormanyzat). Ridiculous? Yes it is!
