So you still considering Hungary?

OK so my posts have not discourage you get or perhaps you have Hungarian spouse or roots and want to give it a try then consider the following too; a speeding ticket in Hungary can easily cost you $200.00 USD. Oh yeah did I mention there is no appeal process? If you don't pay they arrest "YOUR CAR", yes your car not the owner go figure! I guess they are not interested in modifying driver behavior. Of course you will be measured by radar and not stopped by a cop because they are poorly trained and there is no money for gas! If you park in some districts facing the wrong way your car will be booted sometimes within 5 minutes you leaving your car and it will cost you $70 and after 24 hours they tow your car. Yes the districts live off that stuff in Budapest. A word about parking. Two adjoining streets can have different parking enforcement. So if you got your parking ticket to the machine closest to the corner but you parked around the corner WATCH OUT it may be a different KFT (private company) doing the ticketing. Cost $18.00. Incidentally parking enforcer remember your ticket time and WILL show up 3-5 minutes after your parking time expires! Hey they have to make a living right? Oh did I mention about the Police stopping you for NO REASON or Probable Cause? It is called CHECKING YOUR DOCUMENTS! Still not discouraged...stay tuned to more postings like this!
