Transportation and time advice for visit

I'm planning a trip to Mexico to check out different areas and hopefully find one I want to live in for a while. I think I should see a beach town, lake area and other so I can compare and know where I do and don't want to be.

I've done some reading about buses and taxi service and it seems it would be fairly easy to get from city to city. There also are quite a few airports, so perhaps could fly as well.

I am still figuring out places, but right now (not set in stone) want to see Guanajuarta, San Miguel de Allende, Queretaro which is near Guanajuarta so should be easy to visit, San Luis Potosi, perhaps Morelia and Mazatlan. I do not speak Spanish, but plan on learning. I am starting a class next week and will learn more after I move.

My questions are: tips for transportation to each city and getting around each city, how long to stay in each place and how many places should I see in one visit?

I was thinking I could book some AirBnb for the first couple places and then book the rest as I move around, OR book a long stay in one city and leave most of my things there, then travel to other cities and stay a night or two in the other places... OR perhaps I should book everything ahead of time.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
