Help In Mazatlan, Eventually

Hola,
Thanks in advance to any who offer advice. My journey is going to be a bit different than some but I am firm with my plans whether they work out or not.
In last several years I have gone through a death and the misery after it and my faithful dog pulled me through. He is now old with not long to live and after he dies I am going to Mazatlan for a 3 month stretch. This will be in preparation for making this my home base possibly long term but there are some fishing villages on the peninsula I might like to live short term. Good wifi will be a must wherever I travel, I can take my job with me from the US and plan on working for a few more years.
I should get this out of the way – I have only been to Tijuana many years ago. That’s it for Mexico. And I do not currently speak Spanish though I study on Dulingo daily and am planning on hiring a tutor. I know people will say I should take baby steps before moving but that is not my style and I just need to jump into something new to jump start my life. I am lucky enough to go on an adventure and that is what I plan to do.
Because of my Spanish I will not be able to do well in negotiating a place to live for a decent rate. I have read this is the biggest downside to not being proficient in Spanish. Are there expats who will help with this. It is worth many cervezas and more to me.
I would like to move to an area within a block or two of the beach that has an expat population but I also want to immerse myself in the language and people. So I don’t want to be in the middle of an English speaking area where I won’t be challenged to speak and learn the language. And the area must have good wifi. Can anyone recommend some areas like this? I will jump in my Google car and cruise any areas recommended.
My journey may start in 6 months or two years, it all depends on my best friend. I have read just about everything there is to read about moving to Mexico and the different areas and pros and cons etc. I am to the point where I may need to find a FB group even though I hate FB to meet some future friends or even future neighbors.
Sorry this is so long and thanks for reading. And thanks for any advice!
Jim
