New Type of Visa?

Dear Fellow Portugal Forum members:
Providing clear, accurate information on this Forum is a high priority for me. I believe this is an objective that most of us share. Therefore, I am posting this ‘conversation’ so that I can learn from it and do the best possible job of contributing to this forum going forward.

First, here’s a posted question from LucaLuca / Ed, posted yesterday:
Hi. Just wondering if someone. Can answer what is name
Of form to fill out to take to consulate to apply for
Extended visa. Is it. Application for national visa. Residence and temporary stay. It just doesn t seem detailed or
Long enough. Thanks. Ed

Below is my original answer to LucaLuca / Ed:
I am replying to Lucaluca's question only to stave off confusion. A 120 day visa is a National Visa in the eyes of a Portuguese consulate. An extended Visa is a 90 day Tourist Visa with 30, 60 or 90 days added on. Only SEF in Portugal can extend a Tourist Visa. You can read about these Visa types at the Schengen Area website or refer to "realspear"'s earlier answers to you about this terminology. Please, please.

After that, LucaLuca / Ed sent me a private message:
"Are you the blogs police or something. You didn’t answer my question There is not confusion just used the wrong term and I m sure you knew what I was asking. So what is the application called for the 120 day stay before applying in Portugal for the extended visa. ".

Can anyone help LucaLuca / Ed with his questions(s)? I have never heard of “ an application for the 120 day stay before applying in Portugal for the extended visa.” The only 120-day Visa that I know of is a National Visa (when applying at a Portuguese consulate to enter Portugal) or a Schengen Area Visa (when applying at one Country’s consul for entry into another Country) application prior to applying for the Residence Permit in Portugal. And LucaLuca / Ed must be highly frustrated because he’s used similar terms and asked almost the same question several times on this Forum. Thanks to all of you for your help!
